This course, offered by our partner, the Plant Medicine Institute (PMI) is for both medical and non-medical professionals who want to advance their understanding of Cannabis in the role of patient/client care.

THIS ONLINE SELF-PACED COURSE WILL COVER:

  • Cannabis Medicine through history.
  • Prohibition to legalization of cannabis in Canada.

Cannabis Patient Educator

This course is a continuation of the Foundations of Medical Cannabis course. All participants enrolled in the Patient Educator course must first successfully complete the Foundations of Medical Cannabis course (as a prerequisite). This is essential because upon completion of the Patient Educator course, a formal certificate will be provided. Course participants will then be qualified to become competent patient educators in the industry.

THIS COURSE OFFERS STUDENTS, AND STAFF MEMBERS OPPORTUNITIES TO:

  • Learn about the various roles in the cannabinoid clinics
  • The student will become trained to perform the role of a cannabis/patient educator–
    • The student will learn (and practice) how to complete various forms that are essential for a patient to access their cannabinoid medicine.
    • The student will be able to assist clients navigating through the Canadian health care system to obtain medical cannabis.
    • The student will learn how to create an individualized cannabis treatment plan for their patients
    • Upon completion, the students will receive a certificate that they can use when applying to careers (specifically, cannabis patient educator roles) in the industry

ABOUT YOUR EDUCATOR

Dr. Neelan Mohan is a medical educator and cannabis consultant, working in the cannabis industry and in medical education for the past six years.

Dr. Mohan has worked with educational institutions, cannabinoid clinics, and digital marketing companies where he has educated healthcare professionals on the medical properties of cannabis and its interaction with the endocannabinoid system (ECS).
